    The Green Zone Course

    Introduction

    Write your awesome label here.
The Green Zone Course was originally developed for the UK National Health Service. It provides health professionals working at all levels in children's healthcare with an essential toolkit for recognising, managing and de-escalating conflict between families and professionals.

The  content has been developed with the support and expertise of health professionals and parents/carers who have had direct experience of conflict in children's healthcare. It is underpinned by peer-reviewed research from children's healthcare settings.

There are three modules which can be completed at participants' own pace; about an hour should be allowed for each .

    Each module contains

    • Interviews with parents and health professionals
    • Role play vignettes by actors
    • Short conversations by facilitators highlighting key themes to support your learning
    • Exercises and quizzes to build your expertise

    Essential conflict management toolkit

Our E-learning course is designed to sit alongside our face to face training as a standalone essential toolkit of the core skills healthcare professionals will find most useful in recognising, managing and approaching conflict with confidence.

    E-learning vs Face to Face

The Green Zone Course covers the main themes of our Level 1 in-person workshops, with a few differences:

    • our workshops feature live interaction and role plays; the E-learning course has quizzes, exercises and innovative word cloud activities to support interaction and reinforce learning.
    • our workshops introduce the Conflict Management Framework and includes a session on managing conflict as a team and a discussion about handling a conflict case in handover.

Early feedback from the E-learning rollout in the UK in early 2023 is that organisations that sign up in teams are finding imaginative ways to share, discuss and embed their new understanding and skills.

The sweet spot for critical mass

The driver for the NHS in commissioning MMF to develop the course for their staff in the UK was the ambition to equip the widest possible number of healthcare professionals with a core understanding of conflict management skills - and thus achieve a critical mass across the NHS workforce using a common conflict management language and approach.

We have a similar ambition for Australia. Having trained several hundred paediatric healthcare professionals in our face to face workshops in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide over the past few years there is already a core cohort here who are using the Program in their daily practice. The availability of this online self-paced option will support those organisations who want to introduce and embed the core conflict management skills across their wider workforce.

    Accessible and affordable

The Green Zone Course is a good fit for individuals and organisations who recognise the value of a shared language and structure for managing conflict in their workplace setting, but perhaps where our face to face workshops may not be an option for financial or practical reasons: e.g. remote locations and/or a geographically-dispersed workforce
